Three days of phone tag to fill one slot, and by the time you connected, the appointment she wanted was gone. Most of that is the booking process, not demand.
Let them book
Sunday evening is when people plan their week. Self-scheduling shows real availability, with provider, room and equipment all free, and takes a card before the slot is held.
What has to be free
Double-booking usually isn't two patients with one injector. It's two patients needing the same laser, or the last free chair in the IV lounge. Rooms and equipment are bookable resources with their own capacity. Where you genuinely do want a provider running two chairs while one numbs, that is a capacity setting rather than a workaround.
The day itself
Days shift. A provider runs long, a patient arrives late, a room frees up early. The calendar is built for the version of the day that actually happens rather than the one you planned.
